Our Story

A foundation born from lived experience.

The La Reine Foundation exists because our founder once needed exactly what she now offers — a safe place to rebuild self-worth, and a hand to help her reach her potential.

"Music did more than just work on me — it opened doors for me, by God's grace, and through people who helped shape my craft."

From a childhood that shook her worth, to a mission that restores it.

La Reine Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by Lordina Eugenia Derby to empower and support young females to reach their full potential and transform their communities. It was birthed following a long-standing desire to nurture and mentor young ladies into becoming who God wants them to be.

Lordina's own childhood was a challenging one, and it adversely affected her sense of self-worth and self-confidence — leading, at times, to improper life choices and undesirable attitudes and behaviours being directed toward her.

As a young lady, music became her safe haven. Working on her craft became a way of working on her self-esteem, and it opened doors for her — first and foremost by God's grace, and also through the grooming and coaching of people who helped shape her into a respectable figure in the music space.

Another key challenge was funding her education — from primary school, through Fijai Secondary School, to a first degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and finally an MBA at Valley View University. Help came, each time, from mother and father figures God blessed her with along the way.

Through it all, Lordina came to realise that many young women face the very same challenges. La Reine Foundation is her way of giving back — helping young ladies overcome what she once had to overcome alone.

The Journey

Every step built the foundation for this one.

From classroom to concert stage to boardroom — each chapter of Lordina's life shaped the mission La Reine Foundation carries today.

Fijai Secondary School

Her secondary education, made possible by mentors and mother- and father-figures who invested in her when finances were tight.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology

She earned her first degree, continuing to lean on the support of people God placed in her path.

Music as a Safe Haven

Alongside her studies, music — and the mentors who coached her craft — helped rebuild the confidence her childhood had shaken.

Valley View University

She completed a Master of Business Administration, rounding out the strategic and creative foundation she'd need to lead.

La Reine Foundation is Born

Realising many young women share her story, Lordina founded La Reine Foundation to walk with them the way she was once walked with.

La Reine Foundation logo — a confident young woman holding the world
The Foundation Logo, Defined

She holds the world — on purpose.

"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it." — J. M. Barrie

To reach the top, self-confidence is key. Our logo symbolises a confident young woman holding the world in her right hand — signifying that anyone can achieve greatness by overcoming their fears. Her other hand rests on her waist, adding to her confidence and show of authority. She embodies simplicity, showing that you don't need extravagance to succeed.

Our colours — orange for optimism and teal for calmness — aim to change the misconception that confidence in a young woman equates to rudeness.
